Photos: Inside Artist Cbabi Bayoc’s Studio

An artist’s studio is often a happy mess, and Cbabi Bayoc’s space is no exception. Experiments in style, work in progress, books illustrated, beverage cans designed, a wide variety of materials, scraps, brushes, cans, etc., are all around. In this set of images, we see a few shots of the big picture and plenty of details in work which is distinctly Cbabi, w/ hints of Jacob Lawrence, Romare Bearden, Marc Chagall, Picasso, Gris, Léger, and then into Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg – at least to my eye. The work is deep, with his lived experience and his witness to our times showing through. It is always a pleasure to spend some time in his workspace. Enjoy the pix and find his murals around town, work in galleries, and in his online spaces.
