Photos: Protestors Oppose Ameren’s Dirty Power Plan

Dozens of  demonstrators marched to Ameren Missouri’s St. Louis headquarters on Saturday to protest the utility’s plan to expand fossil fuel power generation. The event was organized by Sierra Club’s local chapter, with speakers from groups including Tenants Transforming St. Louis, the Missouri Coalition for the Environment, and the Labadie Environmental Organization.

Ameren’s current plan to expand generation in Missouri, driven largely by rising electricity demand from new data centers, calls for building nine new natural gas plants and extending the life of two existing coal plants, including keeping all four units at the Labadie plant running until 2042.
