Photos: March For Science In Downtown St. Louis

Despite dreary weather and a steady drizzle, more than two hundred demonstrators gathered in downtown St. Louis on Saturday, April 19, 2025, for the March for Science. Armed with umbrellas, rain ponchos, homemade signs, and the desire to make their voices heard, participants rallied to promote science-based policy, environmental protection, and continued investment in scientific research and education.
The event kicked off in Kiener Plaza, before it wound through many downtown blocks, taking it past City Hall and other landmarks. Passersby paused to snap photos or wave in support, while drivers honked in solidarity. Though the weather may have dampened the streets, it did little to dim the spirits of those present. Many signs took aim at the Trump administration’s DOGE efforts. Led by billionaire Elon Musk, the DOGE effort is making unprecedented cuts to the funding for public health agencies and scientific research.
Other signs addressed the recent surge of deportations, including Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s high-profile deportation to an El Salvadoran prison, despite not having committed a crime. The particulars of his case have captivated the nation, leading to numerous congresspeople and senators announcing plans to visit him in El Salvador.
